The Difference Between Activities & Events

Often it is not clear for people what the difference is between those two words. In some cases they are even used interchangeably because once you schedule an activity it technically becomes an event.

● Activities can be saved to do at a later point in time.

● Events happen on an exact date and time.

Places to visit, f.e. an exotic country, a buzzing city, a vibrant shopping street or a newly opened restaurant are activities. Bowling, Billiard, going to an Escape Room, GoKart racing or visiting the local climbing hall are further examples of activities. A person can do it whenever he feels like doing it and/or whenever the facility is open.

Events on the other hand have a clear date and time. A particular sports match, the local art exhibition, a concert, or even a plebiscite or a vote in the local parliament is considered an event. Also note: Once you schedule an activity it turns into an event.
